Application Background
The GS14i lS a hich performance GPs sianal soliter that can be confiqured to monitor the GPS antenna curent , providing and alarm indication if theantenna is not operating to spec. The GS14i also features an optional antenna Dc bias "Pick-8Choose' circuit which alows for active antenna Dcinput to be applied to any or all of the RF outputs, With this option ,one DC voltage wil be chosen to power the antenna while the other input wil beswitched to Dc loads,if the selected Dc bias input should fai, the c bias wil be automatcally switched to another Dc input so as to ensure anuninterrupted supply to the active antenna. The GS14i man be conigured as a passive or an active device. civing the network encineer the fexibity tosneciy the device cain and por-to-ort isolation. The GS14 may also be ordered with surce protection on al five ports and in a sealed housinosufficient for many vears of Operation in external environments

Operational Description
Antenna DC Bias Select
The GS14 soliter recuires that a Dc voage be applied to one or more of the RF outout ports by ways of the RF conector center conductor.f DC voltages are apliedo more than one of the RF output ports the GS14i pick-&-chose circuit wil choose one of these DC inpu to power the active circuitry of the GS14 and wil also pass thisc vofane throuoh the soler to the center conductor of the RE inout oort The Dc yotane available on the RE inout port can then be used to power the aodication'sactive antemna. The DC voltages appled to the RF outputs that are not chosen by the pick-&-choose circuitry wil be automaticaly switched through an RF choke to2000hm Dc loads The DC votanes may be apolied to any or al of the RF outputs howeverthe pick-8-choose circuit wil aways select the DC voltae ont the lowestumbered RF port that has a Dc volae ppied to power the GS14 and the appicaton's anienna f the choosen Dc inout were to be removed or fail.the pick-schoosen circuit will automatically switch to the next higher mumbered RF port to which a DC voltage is applied.
Amplifier And Splitter
The GS14i has the option as either a passive devide, of to be ordered with amplification. If the amplified option is chosen, additional options are available for specifying the amplifier gain and the poer-to-port is isolatin . Amplified versiona of the GS14i that also include the high Isolation option do not require 50 ohm termination on unuesd ports in order for the splitter to peratte properly. Passive versions or amplified versions without the high solation option always require 50 ohm terminations on unused ports for proper operation.
