  • Description

The MGS14i S a high performance GP signal spliter that can be configured to monitor the GPS antenna current , providing and alarm indication ihe antenna is not operating to spec. The MCS14i also features an optional antenna Dc bias "Pick-&Choose circuit which allows for active antennaDC input to be applied to any or all of the RF outputs, With this option ,one DC voltage wil be chosen to power the antenna while the other input wil beswitched to Dc loads. if the selected Dc bias input should fai. the Dc bias will be automaticaly switched to another Dc input so as to ensure anuninterrupted supply to the active antenna. The MGS14i man be configured as a passive or an active device, giving the network engineer the fiexibilityo sneciy the device cain and por-to-ot isolation, The S14 may also be ordered with surce protection on al fve ports and in a sealed housinsufficient for many years of Operation in external environments

    Note:

    (1) Note that proper RF performance, the MS14i must have all RF pots terminated into a 50 ohm coaxial cable system or a 50 ohm load.

    (2) Custom gain option available.

    (3) Maximum curent available from the DC source through the MGS14i when output of MGS14i is short circuited

    (4) Open circuit and short circuit current0C, ISC) may be specified by the customer within the specified range.

(5)In-rush current shall not exceed3A or exceed lsc for greater than 1ms

    Operational Description

    Antenna DC Bias Select

The MGS14i spliter requires that a DC voltage be applied to one or more of the RF output ports by ways of the RF connector center conductor.if Dcoltages are applied to more than one of the RF output ports, the MGS14i pick-&-chose circuit wll choose one of these Dc input to power the activeircuity of the MCS14i and wil also pass this Dc voltace through the soliter to the center conductor of the RF input port, The DC yoltade available onhe RF input port can then be used to power the application's active antenna. The DC voltages appied to the RF outputs that are not chosen by theick-8-choose circuitry wil be automaticaly switched throuch an RF choke to 2000hm Dc loadsThe Dc voltaces may be applied to any or all of theRF outputs:howeverthe pick-&-choose circuit wll always select the Dc voltage ont the lowest numbered RF port that has a DC voltage applied toower the MGS14i and the application's antenna.f the choosen Dc input were to be removed or fail the pick-5-choosen circuit wil automaticalvswitch to the next higher mumbered RF port to which a DC voltage is applied.

    Amplifier And Splitter

The MGS14i has the ootion as either a passive devide, of to be ordered with amplication. If the amplified option is chosen, additional options areavailable for speciying the amplifer gain and the poer-to-port is isolatin , Amplified versiona of the MGS14i that also incude the high lsolation optiondo not reuire 50 ohm termination on unuesd ports in order for the splitter to perate properly. Passive versions or amplified versions without the highsolation option alwavs require 50 ohm terminations on unused ports for proper operation.
